I heard something recently, a quote if you will. "Writing makes you a God." (Yeah it's from a supernatural episode I did not watch)
What's extraordinary about this quote is that, to someone who doesn't think 2 cents about it, it sounds ridiculous. But, in theism anyway, it's sort of absolutely true, although it depends on what exactly you write. The point is in writing fiction that is not historical fiction etc. that you are, in fact, making your very own universe.
